Contemporary synthesis Β· 1987
Energy type
A modern system that maps planetary positions onto 64 gates and nine centers to describe how your energy is built to work.
Where it comes from
The youngest of the seven: a late-twentieth-century synthesis that joins the I Ching's 64 hexagrams, a chakra-like model of nine centers, and astronomical positions. Whatever one makes of its origin story, its vocabulary of types, strategies and authorities has spread widely as a practical self-observation tool.
What we compute from your birth
We compute two full sets of planetary positions β one for your birth moment, one for the instant the Sun sat 88 degrees earlier (roughly three months before) β and map each onto the 64-gate wheel to determine your defined centers, channels, type, strategy, authority and profile.
The positions and cycles are computed with real astronomy and calendar arithmetic β the interpretation never invents a number.
If it's new to you
Unlike the other six, this one reads mechanics rather than meaning: less βwho you areβ, more βhow your engine runsβ. The type plays the Sun-sign role (there are five), and the authority is a decision compass β something no other tradition here names explicitly.
Key terms
- Type
- One of five energy configurations that suggests a broad way of engaging β e.g. initiating, responding, guiding.
- Strategy
- The practical rule of thumb paired with your type β how encounters are said to flow best.
- Authority
- Your suggested decision compass β emotional clarity over time, gut response in the moment, and so on.
- Centers
- Nine hubs (head, throat, heartβ¦) that are defined (consistent) or open (impressionable) in your chart.
- Gates & channels
- The 64 I Ching-derived gates planets can occupy; two linked gates form a channel and define the centers it joins.
- Design vs personality
- The two calculations β ~3 months before birth and at birth β read as unconscious build and conscious self.
